This heirloom Okra is a classic, easy-to-grow garden favorite. It is a wonderfully ornamental plant that produces crunchy edible pods that are eaten fried, roasted, steamed, pickled or added to soups and curries and often used as a thickener. The 4-6′ (1.2-2 m) plants love warm temperatures and have velvety foliage and beautiful, hibiscus-like flowers.
Okra will provide shade for your lettuce and will also grow well with peppers, eggplant, basil, cucumbers, melon and peas.
